Konichiwa! In October of 2006 I traveled to Japan as a Japan Fulbright Memorial Fund Scholar to study its educational system and culture. Japan is a GREAT country and lovely people. Thank you.

I wonder how well it would go over if we would have a policy that our students sweep and scrub our schools? :)

No carpeting but if there is a room with carpeting then the slippers are taken off and you go in your socks. The library in the elementary had carpeting.
If the kids cleaned the school they may take better care of it. I am most impressed with how clean Japan is kept. There are some things that we can learn from them.
When I give a presentation when I get back I will go into the positives and problems of Japan.
