Pictures can be enlarged by clicking on them. Welcoming ceremonies. My visit to this junior high is one of my most memorable experiences that I have had in Japan. This school has 600 students in grades 7,8, and 9. School starts at 8:30 and goes to 3:30. Students have club activities from 3:30 - 5:00. Japanese students go to school 190 days per year. At this school they compete with other schools in baseball and surfing.
No bleachers. Students sit in rows on the floor and teachers stand in the back.
I enjoyed the company of the school principal.
The band welcomed us to the song, "Pretty Woman".
Welcome speech by one of the students. The speech as prepared in english.
